Built for the Underground

SceneGate is the direct booking and touring platform for independent music — connecting bands, venues, and promoters without unnecessary middlemen, opaque algorithms, or pay-to-play visibility.

Manifesto

Booking a tour is fragmented. Bands email into the void, chase DMs, and play phone tag across disconnected systems — while venues sit on open dates they struggle to fill, with no straightforward way to find the right touring acts.

SceneGate exists because that process is broken. We're building the tool we wished existed when we were booking our own tours — a single place where availability is transparent, communication is direct, and planning a route doesn't mean digging through lost email threads.

The aim is simple: make availability, communication, and planning direct. Bands who want to play, rooms that need to be filled, and a platform designed to get out of the way.

We built the tool we wished existed when we were booking our own tours.

Platform Vision

What We're Building

  • Direct Booking

Bands and venues connecting without agents, middlemen, or pay-to-play.

  • Tour Planning

Routing, open dates, and booking gaps designed around life on the road.

  • Artist-First Discovery

Independent artists surfaced on their merits, not their ad spend.

  • Independent Scene Network

A growing network of DIY spaces, small rooms, and regional promoters.

What We Believe

Our Values

  • Artists First

Every product decision should make it easier for independent artists to find rooms, plan tours, and play shows.

  • Direct Connection

Bands, venues, and promoters should be able to communicate clearly without unnecessary gatekeeping.

  • Transparent Terms

Availability, compensation, expectations, and booking terms should be understandable before anyone commits.

  • Tour-Ready

SceneGate is being designed around routing, open dates, booking gaps, venue discovery, and road logistics.

  • Local Scenes Matter

Small rooms, DIY spaces, regional promoters, and local communities are essential parts of independent music.

  • No Pay-to-Play

Visibility should not depend on advertising spend or hidden placement fees.

Who's Building It

The People Behind SceneGate

SceneGate is built by a small group of independent-music and technology people. These are the areas they focus on.

  • Artist Experience

Shaping how bands build profiles, discover rooms, plan routes, and reach venues — so the tools feel made for working musicians.

  • Platform Engineering

Building the discovery, sessions, and tour-mapping experience on a fast, reliable, independent-first foundation.

  • Venue Partnerships

Connecting with independent venues, DIY spaces, and regional promoters to grow a network built around real local scenes.

Common Questions

FAQ

  • SceneGate is currently in development. The core platform is being designed around free discovery and direct connection, with premium tools planned for advanced tour management and analytics.

  • No. SceneGate is being built as a platform, not an agency — the plan is never to take a cut of your door, guarantee, or merch. What you negotiate with a venue stays between you and the venue.

  • The focus is independent rooms — from small DIY spaces to mid-size clubs across the U.S. SceneGate is being built for the rooms where real scenes happen, not corporate amphitheaters.

  • Structured booking terms and agreement tools are planned for a later phase. They are not yet active in the current frontend build.

  • The initial focus is the United States, with broader expansion planned after the core network is established.

  • Yes — promoters are part of the vision. Promoter profiles and tools to connect with bands and venues are under development as part of the broader booking experience.
